No Gluten, No Problem
Our newest trip type offers just what the name implies - dedicated gluten free adventures. Designed for travelers with medically restricted diets, by our founder with Celiac disease. Spend your PTO exploring the world (not memorizing the tile pattern of the hotel bathroom) - we've got you covered.

Who these trips are for:
If you’ve been putting off traveling the world due to a medically restricted diet (Celiac disease, EOE, NCGS, etc) we’ve designed our gluten free small group trips just for you!
We take every possible precaution to ensure our travelers have safe, delicious meals throughout our dedicated gluten free trips - without sacrificing the cultural connection that local cuisine offers travelers.
We understand there are many common co-occurring diagnoses, allergies, and intolerances that affect gluten free travelers. The good news: many of these are easily managed within our existing gluten free itineraries! For example, nut allergies, as well as dairy & milk protein allergies can be accommodated on both our 2027 trips (Costa Rica and Albania). Where things get tricky: entirely vegan diets (particularly in Albania) can present a challenge. Please be sure to include all dietary restrictions in your registration form, and our team will ensure we’re able to safely meet your needs before providing you with a link to submit your deposit. Our founder (fellow Celiac with additional food allergies) is always happy to speak with prospective travelers to gauge feasibility of additional restrictions, as well as to answer any questions you may have about food safety on your trip!

How does this work, exactly?
Our Costa Rica trip includes meals prepped and cooked by a private chef directly in our villa (fresh cutting board, no use of toaster/toaster oven previously containing gluten, etc) and a few meals at carefully selected, pre-vetted restaurants that have a longstanding history of safely feeding customers with Celiac disease. Our Albania trip similarly includes a mix of dedicated gluten free restaurants, and restaurants that have met our extremely stringent standard of gluten free accommodation.

Restaurant vetting & who this trip may not be for:
We take the restaurant vetting process very seriously (speaking directly to kitchen staff, confirming cross-contact safe prep practices, etc) but we also understand that some people with Celiac disease don’t feel comfortable eating in restaurants that use gluten in any capacity at all - whether at home, or abroad. While the restaurants we visit have been vetted by a combination of the aforementioned outreach, the personal experience of our Celiac founder, and a cross-check of reviews from FindMeGlutenFree, Google Maps, TripAdvisor, etc. - we understand that there is always a small inherent risk that can’t be avoided. If you are not comfortable dining at an establishment that doesn’t have a dedicated gluten free kitchen under these circumstances, these trips may not be a fit for your needs.
If they’re willing to commit fully to the GF lifestyle during our time together, then absolutely! Please note that this includes not bringing any personal snacks containing gluten into our shared kitchen space (particularly in our villa in Costa Rica) or ordering gluten containing items during meals together at restaurants, as this increases the risk for accidental contact at the table. Of course, if your friend or partner wants to explore other restaurants during their free time, or in lieu of joining a group meal, they are welcome to do so - we’ll just be unable to accommodate any leftovers in the villa kitchen afterward.
