Antigua, Guatemala recently topped National Geographic’s list of must-visit cities in 2025, and with good reason - in addition to being one of the best preserved Spanish colonial towns outside of Europe, it’s also an ideal hub for coffee-related tourism. San Miguel Escobar, a small town just outside of Antigua, has been a hub for coffee production since the mid-1800s. Today, the neighborhood is home to a thriving community of coffee farmers who partner through a local co-op to share resources and gain access to higher-end equipment that allows them to produce the highest quality of coffee possible.

Partnering with Local Coffee Farms

Through our local partnerships, we support the local community and families directly - giving you exclusive hands-on experience, visiting both the local farms, and the family homes to learn more about what makes their generations-old process so special. After a walk through the farm and learning about the planting, maintenance, and harvest process, return to your hosts’ home to learn the traditional way to roast, grind, and brew your freshly dried beans!

Artisanal coffee shops we love in Antigua

Back in Antigua, there are seemingly endless options of cafes to continue your caffeinated quest for the best cup in town, but we have a few favorites we recommend you make time to visit!

  1. Artista de Café

Our top spot for the ultimate third-wave coffee experience! From carefully crafted specialty drinks to masterfully pulled espresso shots and pour-overs, it offers a curated menu of artisanal beverages in a vibrant, culturally rich setting.
